Bonaire Visitor Entry Tax: What You Need to Know Before You Travel
If you're planning a vacation to Bonaire, there is one important travel requirement you'll want to take care of before you arrive: the Bonaire Visitor Entry Tax.
The Visitor Entry Tax is required for most non-residents visiting Bonaire and helps support tourism, infrastructure, education, and sustainability initiatives across the island. The tax replaced Bonaire's former room tax and rental car tax, creating a simpler process for visitors.
How Much Is the Bonaire Visitor Entry Tax?
Entry Tax Rates (per visit, by air or sea):
Visitors 13 years and older: $75
Visitors 12 years and younger: $10
Residents of the former Netherlands Antilles (Sint Eustatius, Saba, Curaçao, Aruba, St. Maarten) with a valid Sedula or Population Register Extract (dated within 3 months): $10
When and How Do I Pay?
The Visitor Entry Tax can be paid either upon arrival at Bonaire's airport or online before your trip. We strongly recommend paying online in advance, as it allows for faster processing through customs and immigration upon arrival.
The tax can be paid up to one week before your trip through the official government website. After payment, you will receive a confirmation and QR code that may be requested upon arrival.
Be sure to save your confirmation and QR code. You may present either a digital copy on your mobile device or a printed copy; however, we recommend bringing a printed copy as a backup in case your phone battery is low, you experience connectivity issues, or your device is unavailable.
Use Only the Official Website
Unfortunately, fraudulent websites occasionally appear online claiming to collect Bonaire's Visitor Entry Tax and may charge additional fees.
The only official website authorized to collect the Bonaire Visitor Entry Tax is:
Before entering any payment information, verify that you are on the official government website.
If you are unable to provide proof of payment when requested at the airport, you may be required to pay the Visitor Entry Tax again upon arrival.
How Long Is the Tax Valid?
The Visitor Entry Tax QR code is valid for 30 days from your first arrival in Bonaire. This is especially helpful for travelers who may visit another island and then return to Bonaire during the same vacation.
Is the Visitor Entry Tax the Same as the Nature Fee?
No. The Bonaire Visitor Entry Tax is separate from the STINAPA Nature Fee.
If you plan to snorkel, dive, visit Washington Slagbaai National Park, or enjoy Bonaire's protected natural areas, you will also need to purchase the appropriate STINAPA Nature Fee pass.
